We upskill Samvedna women in three main areas:
Employment: our supported women learn textile, sewing and dressmaking skills. This provides them job opportunities within the Samvedna Handmade facility
Educational skills: including learning English, computer technology skills and paperwork skills to manage financial budgeting.
Personal growth: self-refinery workshops that target various areas that include physical and mental health, confidence and empowerment.
Currently Samvedna has around 23 women employed in full-part time roles. This number totals to 48 women when rural women contracted for piece work are included. Currently, the team is in the process of creating and perfecting a design for reusable sanitary pads.
